Chris Dollar, Boys' Head Coach
Coach Dollar is in his fourth year with the boys x-country program and second year as head coach. He is a former Varsity Cross Country Athlete at San Clemente High School and has participated in numerous Distance coaching Clinics to stay on the cutting edge of workout theory for distance runners. Chris is also full time history teacher at Capo Valley and also serves as an advisor to the Model United Nations Team.
Ken Sayles, Girls' Head Coach
Coach Sayles is in his 19th season as Head Coach and also serves as the Head Track Coach and coaches the girl distance runners during Track. He was the 1999 District Teacher of the Year and his athletes have won 22 individual League Championships (That includes 5 of 6 distance races at the 2001 South Coast League Track meet), 2 CIF Championships, and Orange County Athlete of the Year, a high school All-American, and his athletes have made 4 State Meet appearances at Cross Country and Track. He is a National, State and CIF certified coach and is the first coach in the CUSD to complete its coaching certificate program. Coach Sayles was honored by CIF Southern Section with its “Coaching for Character “Award for years of teaching important values along with fielding championship-level teams. He is an accomplished marathoner, having completed 21 marathons including the Boston Marathon 3 times. He has recently competed as a triathalon, as well.
Cary Costa, Assistant Boys' Coach
Coach Costa is in his second year as Assistant Cross Country Coach to the Cougars. He has been a tremendous asset to the program over the past year and a half. Coach Costa ran Cross Country and Track at the Collegiate Level at Western Oregon University. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the Capo Cross Country Program and he still runs competitively. Cary is also a full time Science teacher at Capo Valley.
Katy Miller, Assistant Girls' Coach
Coach Miller is in her 4th season as an assistant coach. She is a Spanish teacher at the school and an excellent runner and triathalete as well.
